From Pune it can be a single day trip, no need to stay in lavasa. from my place in pune it was 80KM one way.
How to reach: From Katraj Zoological Park, take the Mumbai-Pune highway (towards Mumbai), after 10-15 KMs, there is an exit on the left towards Lavasa. If you miss the exit, you will have to come back to the same exit by taking a U turn and again head towards the same exit. So dont miss the exit:).
What to do: Well the drive is a very pleasant one.
As soon as you enter (its a gated city, so you will notice when you enter Lavasa) the security will hand out a map of Lavasa to you on the entry.
There is small water fall which looks just amazing on the left side. You cant miss this since there might be a small crowd enjoying it there already.
At the lavasa city center, there is a lake and a few boat rides are available, rain dance too can be enjoyed. A small eatery is there for some quick snacks. The city gives a feel of European city, well planned, neat, and well marked with all the signs.
When to Visit: Any time of the year is good.
This is the place of recreation - boating, rain dancing, some snacks et. al.
